Small Screen Software was founded in 2008 by a computer science graduate of The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Enamored of handheld computing from device manufacturers such as Texas Instruments, Casio and Palm, he was excited when Google introduced the Android platform along with the first "Googlephone", the G1 by HTC.
When the Android Market opened for business, titles from Small Screen Software began appearing quickly. Its best app was the personal finance title Checkbook Genius, which was downloaded over 38,000 times as a free offering. Other titles soon followed.
Several years later, Small Screen Software titles for Windows Phone began to appear, followed by titles for the popular iPhone/iOS platform. For a complete list of Small Screen Software apps, visit the All Apps page.
Small Screen Software has developed apps using native technologies from the major vendors Microsoft, Apple and Google. Some titles have been created using cross-platform tools such as the increasingly popular Xamarin product, as well as the HTML5-based Apache Cordova product (also known as PhoneGap). True to its name, Small Screen Software is a classic small business.
The Small Screen Software business is based in Houston, Texas and will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018!
